Lucky Cat Studio is design, passion, and desire for creative freedom. We are a husband-wife team, with completely different backgrounds, that have combined the firefighter and designer personalities to create Lucky Cat Studio.

As Founder and Creative Director, Designer Vera Marie Porter brings more than 12 years of design experience and leadership to Lucky Cat Studio. Vera has design experience in interactive and off-line mediums, having worked on everything from architectural and interior design to web and print design. In her past professional experience since founding Lucky Cat Studio, Vera has worked as a manager and design consultant in the retail environment and as the interior design project manager for a mid-sized architectural firm. She holds a Bachelor of Design from the University of Florida's College of Design, Construction and Planning and a certificate of web design from St. Petersburg College. Vera is also a licensed, NCIDQ certified, Florida State Interior Designer. Vera's passion for art and design produces thoughtful, deliberate, and efficient designs based on your business or personal goals.

Is there Really a Lucky Cat?

Neko, The Lucky Cat

Yes, his name is Neko, named after the Japanese lucky cats, Maneki Neko. We brought him home shortly after losing our Bella to feline breast cancer. He was about 12 weeks old and was found in the road near his mother who had been ran over by a car. After a story like that, he needed a good name, so we searched long and hard for the perfect name for our new "furry friend" addition.

Maneki Neko traditionally means "beckoning cat" and is believed to bring luck and fortune to their owner. Typically they are small ceramic sculptures seen in homes and places of business. Our Neko was a survivor and we consider him very lucky.

Neko is unique and extremely special to us and he is the inspiration behind Lucky Cat Studio.
